GSEE-TECH EtherCAT Branchers Help Industrial Automation Run Efficiently

Back to list
Ethernet technology was initially widely used in the office field because of good versatility, low cost, high efficiency, high reliability and stability, and is widely used in daily information life and various commercial fields. However, in the field of industrial automation, due to its CSMA/CD media access control mechanism, it is more difficult to build a real-time control network, which cannot meet the real-time requirements of industrial control systems.

In order to solve this problem, Industrial Ethernet came into being. It uses special designs, including powerful communication protocols and hardware adapted to harsh environments, to meet the needs of industrial control systems. These designs enable Ethernet to function in a wider range of more complex industrial scenarios, supporting real-time control and highly reliable communications.

Among them, EtherCAT is widely used for its excellent real-time performance and efficient data transmission due to its special communication mechanisms such as "processing on the fly" and unique distributed clock synchronisation. In order to further optimise the layout and performance of the EtherCAT network, EtherCAT branchers have been introduced, which not only extend the network connectivity but also improve the response speed and stability of the system by creating physical branches, making device integration and system maintenance more convenient and efficient.

EtherCAT Branch:  GIE8006EC-6T

  • Based on high-performance EtherCAT ASIC communication chip
  • Supports cascade function and hot-swapping of network cables.
  • Supports DC-distributed clock synchronisation
  • Simple configuration and support for mainstream EtherCAT masters.
  • Power supply supports anti-reverse connection and short-circuit protection
  • Flexible composition of a variety of topologies

GIE8006EC-6T is a 6-channel EtherCAT splitter developed and manufactured by GSEE-TECH. It features 1 EtherCAT input and 5 EtherCAT output interfaces, allowing individual devices or entire EtherCAT networks to be directly connected to the module ports. The ports have RJ45 interfaces and are equipped with LED indicators that directly display link status and device status.

The product is compatible with TwinCAT or other applicable EtherCAT masters and is suitable for configuring star topologies in a wide range of complex device and production line networks. By using the GIE8006EC-6T, users can more easily expand EtherCAT networks, improve system response speed and stability, and simplify equipment integration and system maintenance.

Advantage 1: Conversion of  Bus Topology to Star Topology

The EtherCAT Node Slave Module converts a bus-type topology into a star-type topology, which makes configuration and wiring easier.

Advantage 2: Improved Debugging Efficiency

In a normal bus topology, if one of the node devices is disconnected or malfunctions, the other node devices located in the same domain as it and connected in series below will not be able to communicate with the master controller. However, when wiring with EtherCAT Node Slave Modules, it is possible to branch the wiring of all node devices.

This means that if one of the node devices fails, it will only affect other devices located on the same branch and will not interfere with devices on other branches. This makes it easier to detect and isolate faults, thus ensuring that the rest of the system can continue to communicate normally with the master controller.
